Hi Dude. Some time we forget to remember our password. Today i will write about easy step to reset password root in Alma Linux. Ok lets do it.
Press ‘e’ in GRUB display
In GRUB display, select ‘e’ to edit.
Change Read Only to Read Write
And then wil show display like this. Attention with red line. Show word "ro".
edit "ro" with rw init=/sysroot/bin/sh
After that, press “ctrl + x”. And will show below.
Mount CHROOT and Reset Password ROOT Alma Linux
Ok, lets mount or change root owner with chroot. After that change password root.
if Your SELINUX is active before, run the command below to enable SELinux relabelling.
:/# touch /.autorelabel
Ok, thats finished. You can give exit command and then reboot or press soft reset panel in server to restart.
That is easy way reset password root. This method can used too in centos or red hat operating system.
As we know, alma linux is 1:1 compatible with Red Hat Package. And claimed successor centos 7 that will be discontinued.
